Membership With I.A.T.S.E. Local 168

Thank you for your interest in joining I.A.T.S.E. Local 168.

For the Stage Department, one must first become a Permittee where you need to complete two hundred (200) hours before you can apply for full membership.

The Local also offers Sister Member status for I.A.T.S.E. full members of other Locals.

If you wish to join the Special Departments roster as an FOH Permittee or Member you must apply for a position directly through an employer we have a Collective Agreement with.  The application link for these specific positions is only provided for reference and will only be accepted once a person is hired by an Employer.

Please select the correct option below.  If you have problems downloading a form please contact the office.

Stage Permittee

The first step towards full membership is to become a Stage Permittee. If you are already a member of another Local you can also join as a Sister Member. Download the application package below, read and complete the entire package and return it to us. Some form of theatrical experience or training is required in order to be considered by the Local. The Local requires Stage Permittees to be at least eighteen (18) years of age and be legally allowed to work in Canada.

We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Please mail your application and payment to the Local. If you wish to pay by Credit Card, please click the PayPal link at the bottom of this page.

Sister Stage Member

The Local offers Sister status to Stage Members in good standing from other Locals. Your good standing status from your home Local must be verified in writing every quarter.  Please note, that I.A.T.S.E. Local 168 considers Permittee’s as applicants to the Local. As such, Sister Members will be called after our Permittee Roster.  For this reason, we would encourage you to consider Permittee status rather than Sister Status if you are hoping for more work. The Local requires Sister Members to be at least eighteen (18) years of age and be legally allowed to work in Canada.

If you are still wishing Sister Status, please fill out the form below and return it to the office.

  • You must mail your application and payment to the Local. If you wish to pay by Credit Card, please click the PayPal link at the bottom of this page.
  • Applications are reviewed as time permits.  Please do not contact the office asking about the status of your application.
